COPPER · LEGAL
Terms of Service
The terms for using Copper for your business: what the service provides, how subscriptions and credits work, and your responsibilities when working with data.
Effective · Version 2026-09-06
1. Who these terms apply to
Copper is provided by Frederik Witte GmbH, Georgstraße 48, 30159 Hannover, Germany ("Copper", "we", "us"). Contact us at support@getcopper.io. Further company details are available in our Legal notice.
Copper is offered exclusively to businesses, self-employed professionals and other customers acting in the course of their trade, business or profession. It is not offered for personal or household use by consumers. You must have legal capacity and authority to act for the business whose account you create or use.
These terms form part of your agreement when you accept them in connection with registration or an order. An individually agreed contract takes priority over these terms. The plan, price, billing interval and additional conditions expressly agreed in your order also apply. Merely viewing this page does not change an existing contract.
2. What Copper provides
Copper provides software for importing, organizing, researching, enriching and exporting business data. Depending on your plan, you can connect supported services and use the public API or MCP connection. Features and usage allowances are those described for your selected plan and order.
AI-generated and third-party results can be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate. Review results before relying on them, contacting a person, updating another system or making a business decision. We do not promise that every search will identify a person, return an email address or produce a commercially useful result. Finding an address does not verify permission to contact its owner.
We may maintain and improve the service and apply proportionate technical limits to protect its availability and security. These limits do not remove the essential features or contractual rights of your agreed plan. Specific availability commitments apply only if separately agreed. Statutory rights for defective or unavailable services remain unaffected.
3. Accounts and authorized access
Provide accurate account and billing information, keep it up to date and protect login details, API keys and connected-service credentials. Give access only to people authorized by your business and remove access when it is no longer needed. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
You are responsible for instructions submitted by you and by people you authorize to use your workspace, including instructions through AI assistants, integrations, API clients and MCP clients. Review permissions before connecting an external client. Nothing in this section makes you responsible for a security failure attributable to Copper.
4. Your responsibility for data and permissions
Before you upload, collect, scrape, store, enrich, disclose or export data using Copper, you must establish that you are legally entitled to do so for your intended purpose. Obtain the permissions and licenses required by applicable law and by your agreements with data owners and service providers. You must not submit data in breach of confidentiality, intellectual-property rights or applicable access restrictions.
For personal data, you are responsible for identifying and documenting an appropriate legal basis, complying with purpose limitation and data minimization, providing required privacy information, keeping data accurate, setting lawful retention periods and responding to applicable data-subject requests. Obtain consent where consent is required. Consent is not the only possible legal basis, and these terms do not decide whether a particular legal basis is valid for your use case.
Publicly accessible information remains subject to applicable privacy, confidentiality and intellectual-property rules. The fact that a name, business email address or other information appears on a website does not by itself authorize its collection, enrichment, storage or use for marketing.
Do not use Copper to process special-category personal data, criminal-record information or information about children, or for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals, unless we have expressly agreed an appropriate service and the necessary legal and technical safeguards in writing.
5. Outreach and acceptable use
You are responsible for ensuring that any email, phone call, message or campaign using Copper results complies with applicable marketing, privacy and communications laws in the relevant countries. Obtain any required prior consent, identify the sender accurately, honor objections and unsubscribe requests, and maintain suppression lists where required. B2B contact information is not a general exemption from these requirements.
Do not use Copper for spam, harassment, fraud, unlawful discrimination, impersonation, malware, unauthorized surveillance or other unlawful activity. Do not bypass authentication, workspace boundaries, rate limits, spending controls, plan restrictions or source-site access controls. Do not create duplicate or misleading accounts to obtain repeated trials, launch gifts or other promotional benefits.
You must not attempt to access another customer’s data or interfere with the platform. Report suspected vulnerabilities privately to support@getcopper.io and avoid accessing data that is not yours. This restriction does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Data protection and processing roles
Your obligations regarding customer data do not transfer or exclude Copper’s own obligations under applicable law. Each party remains responsible for the duties that apply to its actual role. Our Privacy notice describes processing for our own purposes, such as operating this website and managing business relationships.
Where Copper processes personal data on your behalf as a processor, the parties must put an appropriate data processing agreement in place before that processing, including the applicable arrangements for subprocessors, security, deletion and international transfers. These Terms of Service alone are not a substitute for the agreement required by Article 28 GDPR. Contact support@getcopper.io to arrange the required documentation before using Copper for that processing.
You retain your rights in data and content that you provide. You authorize us to handle that content only to the extent necessary to supply, secure and support the agreed service and as otherwise lawfully agreed. No ownership of your customer data is transferred to Copper by these terms.
7. Plans, trials and payments
Your order shows the selected plan, currency, price, billing interval, included credits and any recurring additional credits. Applicable taxes are shown during checkout. Unless your order says otherwise, subscriptions renew monthly until canceled. Payments are processed through Stripe.
An eligible customer can start a normal subscription with a seven-day trial containing 1,000 trial credits. There is no separate trial subscription plan. A payment method is required where shown at checkout. Unless you cancel before the displayed trial end, the selected paid subscription starts and the agreed payment becomes due. A trial is available once per eligible customer.
You can choose to end the trial early and activate the paid subscription. The app will ask you to confirm this action. Successful payment starts paid access and supplies the applicable paid-period credits; it ends the remaining free trial.
The introductory offer for the first ten eligible real users supplies 1,000 launch credits after signup without requiring a subscription. It is separate from the subscription trial. Availability and eligibility are shown during the offer; staff, test, duplicate and abusive registrations do not qualify. Once the offer is exhausted, it is no longer available to new registrations.
Cancellation stops future renewal and ordinarily takes effect at the end of the current paid period. You can manage cancellation in the app’s billing area or contact support@getcopper.io for assistance. Cancellation and account deletion are distinct actions. Your statutory termination and repayment rights remain unaffected.
8. Credits and research charges
Credits measure usage of Copper. They are not currency, a deposit, an investment or a promise of a particular research outcome. Published credit value is a customer usage price and is not a statement of Copper’s supplier cost. Plan allowances, extra credit prices and relevant limits are shown before purchase.
Research can consume credits for model execution, searches, page retrieval, contact-data requests and Copper execution, including work that produces no matching contact or only a partial result. Review the estimate and scope before starting paid work. Copper may reserve credits while a job is running and settle the charge after processing. If a provider’s outcome is uncertain, a reservation may remain held for review rather than allowing the same spending to be repeated automatically.
Subscription rollover is limited to twice the applicable monthly allowance after renewal. Separately purchased one-time credit packs are valid for twelve months from purchase. Any other promotional allowance and its expiry are displayed in the applicable offer or credit record. Credits do not provide access to features outside your effective plan.
An eligible new customer who registers through an existing customer’s unique personal referral link qualifies both customers for 500 referral credits each after the referred customer’s first successful positive subscription payment. The bonus is awarded once to each side of that referral. Self-referrals, duplicate or abusive accounts, a trial alone and one-time credit-pack purchases do not qualify. If the qualifying payment is refunded or reversed, the related bonus may be corrected in accordance with applicable law.
Optional overage requires your opt-in and a monthly cap. The applicable rate is shown before you enable it; overage is charged in addition to your subscription. Where a charge or credit balance appears incorrect, contact support@getcopper.io so that it can be investigated. These terms do not exclude legally required corrections, refunds or other remedies.
9. Connected services and your own API keys
Third-party services have their own terms, permissions and availability. You must be authorized to connect them and to process the data you import or export. Connecting a service does not authorize Copper to act beyond the permissions and operations you approve.
The Scale plan permits eligible customers to supply their own supported provider keys. An owned key replaces Copper’s key only for that provider. That provider may charge you directly under its own agreement. Other providers and Copper execution can still consume Copper credits, so using one owned key does not make the complete workflow free. Lower plans use Copper-managed providers and credits.
You can revoke a connection or key, subject to processing already started. A third-party change may require reconnection or an integration update. We will not treat a third-party failure as removing our own contractual responsibilities.
10. Software and result rights
During your authorized access, we grant you a non-exclusive right to use Copper for your business within the agreed plan. Copper and its licensors retain their rights in the software, interface, documentation and branding. You must not resell access or copy or misuse the service beyond your agreement, except where applicable law permits it.
You may use and export results subject to these terms, applicable law and any third-party rights. AI output may not be unique or protectable, and we do not promise exclusive rights in facts, source materials or generated results. You remain responsible for checking whether your intended use requires additional rights or permissions.
11. Suspension and ending access
We may restrict the affected access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, overdue payment, unlawful use or a concrete security risk. Measures will be proportionate. Where practical and legally permitted, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve the issue. Urgent security incidents or legal requirements may require immediate action.
Either party may terminate for cause where applicable law permits. The consequences for fees and credits depend on the reason for termination and applicable law; suspension does not automatically forfeit all customer rights.
Keep appropriate copies of your business data and export required records before your access ends. Contact us promptly if you need help arranging an export. Personal-data return, deletion, legal retention and backup handling are governed by applicable law and any data processing agreement. We do not promise indefinite storage after termination.
12. Responsibility and liability
Each party is responsible for breaches attributable to it under applicable law. Your responsibility for lawful source data, permissions and outreach does not release Copper from responsibility for its own conduct, security duties or contractual obligations.
The statutory rules on liability apply. In particular, nothing in these terms excludes liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, fraud, an expressly assumed guarantee or liability that cannot legally be limited. Descriptions of AI limitations are not a blanket exclusion of contractual remedies.
13. Changes to the agreement
A newly published version does not by itself amend an existing agreement. Material changes to contractual terms or agreed prices will be communicated in advance and agreed where required by law. We will not treat silence alone as acceptance of a material change. The version accepted with your agreement remains applicable unless validly amended.
14. Applicable law and contact
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory applicable law remains unaffected. Where you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the courts in Hannover, Germany have jurisdiction to the extent a jurisdiction agreement is legally permitted. Otherwise, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply.
If a provision is invalid, the remaining agreement continues and the applicable statutory rule replaces the invalid provision. This does not permit replacing it with a broader restriction on your rights.
Questions about these terms, your account, billing or data-processing documentation can be sent to support@getcopper.io or to Frederik Witte GmbH at the address in section 1.
